Watched Morrisey here in junior, steady d. From what I've seen in Nurse so far I would say he's better. Just my opinion.

The Oilers media and some of their fans have over-hyped him and their horrible, injury filled and lack depth in NHL ready d-men will be an incentive for Nurse to hold out until he get a contract he thinks he deserves. Nurse is in a great bargaining position as the Oilers have a history of given way too expensive contracts to sign not as talented and less valuable players. Sometimes it good to be realistic in the value your players have to your team as the more they are given undeserved praise the more they and their agent want. Good luck Oilers.

Chia needs to leave some money on the table for a Faulkish player.

I know some of you will dismiss me because of my location but I watch a lot of oilers games. I agree Nurse and Morrissey are comparable players. Regardless of whether Nurse gets 3M or 3.5 or 4 at the end of the day it's kind of irrelevant. This team is sinking faster than the Titanic with 3 horrible contracts, Sekera, Lucic and Russel - all with NMC so you cant even buy them out.

McDavid and Draisaitl have the ability to be the next Crosby/Malkin duo so you can't ebtertain the thought of trading them, but this team sorely lacks the depth required to compete today's NHL.

There's no obvious answer either. I've been looking at trade scenarios and possibilities to move out some money and the only attractive piece is Nuge. What I don't get is why Chiarelli gave $4M AND A NMC to Russel when he's basically another Larsson without the physicality. Until 2 of these contracts are off the books in 2021 the Oilers are only going as far as McDavid and Draisaitl can carry them.

How the Oilers can't seem to figure it out even after a generational player falls in their lap is baffling. They're almost certainly not going to make the playoffs with the offseason additions to the Pacific (Kovalchuk, Neal, Pacioretty, Karlsson).

this doesnt really hinder nurses postion at all.

PC: look what morrisey just got, can you sign for that?

Nurse: How many NHL ready dmen you got? Still only 2? Call me when you want 3.

The oilers were fuqed from the ground up when mcdavid fell into our lap. Having him now doesnt mean we can stop the organizational rebuild we are currently enduring. Im not just talking about the NHL level, the entire organization was broken and is being overhauled. Improvements are being made but it takes longer than a season or 2 to iron it out, in the mean time we have the greatest player on the planet for a good while to keep the ship afloat in the meanwhile.

We've got 4 established NHL Dmen ready to start the season but only two proven top-4s. We can hope that Jerabek's good transition numbers translate to solid results on a bottom pairing, Gravel can be a better-skating Gryba and that one of Jones or Bear can step up their game. There's usually at least one pleasant surprise (and disappointment) per season; let's see who it is.

Chiarelli (frank)ed your team after Mcdavid showed up. Two years ago you had Mcdavid Eberle Hall Nuge Draisaitl Christ anyone could fill out that roster and make a half decent team.

Cant place all the blame on Chia... Hall checked out and Eberle hasnt exactly proven to be a playoff threat.

If Sekera could stay healthy and Nurse stopped being a douche canoe it wouldn't be so bad.

Yep.

It gives me an erection thinking about rolling out hall/leon AFTER Connor and nuge.
Then I remember we traded him for a 2nd pairing dman and I go soft again
